I'm GOOD!

Everyone asks, georg, kat , kellie, penny and me...

" How are you?"

And if you answer
" good!"

People look at you all fucked up....

Some even say... Its ok if your not...

Or

Your not and that's ok...

Some hug you and tell you its ok to hurt

Or
Some say your a good liar...

Or
as the guy who has to answer that question.... Some times I feel guilty answering with " good", cause the person I'm saying it to thinks I'm an ass...
For being "GOOD" at a difficult time

Well just so ya know... GOOD on the 9th floor of st. Mikes hospital in the ICU,
is far more real then good anywhere else in the world....

So if you ask anyone on the ICU how they are.. And the say good!
It so extraordinaraly GOOD....

Let me Define GOOD in the ICU...

Good in the ICU is
•Being alive this minute

•Opening your eyes just for a second.

•having someone here to hug you

•having a nurse you like

•having a dance party with tears running down your face...

Good is
A hot coffee, a sandwich,

Good is having your son squeeze your hand

Good is having a slow heart rate

Good is being able to hug a stranger in the waiting room.. Because you know they needed it..

Good, is helping a new person... In the ICU

Good, is a doctor stopping you in the hall way and ask you if your OK.

Good, is having a person come to visit you, that you don't know... But they know and love your son....

Feel free to ask me how I am.....
and when I say: "GOOD",

It so fucking GOOD,

because good, can be so small in the ICU.... that its larger then life.

We cherish GOOD, in the ICU, you don't dismiss it, you own it , because it could be gone in a single moment..

I hope this insight to "good" is good.....
